40 weeksThis exciting course is about putting your business hat on and learning how to develop new food products or services for today’s market. Build on your Level 5 cooking or baking knowledge and learn the process of taking your food dream from concept to reality, along with a range of core management skills.
Learn invaluable business strategy skills and the latest food industry trends as you research, develop and design a new food product or service - pitching it, testing it and tweaking it to get it ready for market.
You will be busy cooking, developing menus, styling food, learning how to photograph the food and creating a blog to showcase it all as you learn about customer engagement and marketing strategy.
We’ll also each you about core management skills, duties and responsibilities in the food industry, including finance, operations, sales and marketing.
The course includes a 20 week internship, where you’ll put your new business and management knowledge to the test in a commercial culinary business - making you highly employable or ready to go out on your own.

New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 6)
Domestic Students
At the start of the course, domestic applicants must:
Be a minimum of 18 years old.
Have a New Zealand Diploma in Cookery Level 5, New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 or an equivalent qualification; or have relevant and current industry experience.
Applicants with English as a second language will need to demonstrate sufficiency in English language (where required, will need to complete and pass a reading/writing placement test and an interview may be required).
International Students
All international applicants must:
Be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the course.
Have completed secondary school overseas or New Zealand Year 11 from a New Zealand TEO) or have equivalent work experience.
Have English language proficiency: If English is your second language, you need an English level of 6 IELTS or equivalent with no band score lower than 5.5 (other English tests or evidence of your English language ability may be approved as advised by NZQA).
Have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.
Pass a reading/writing test if required
